Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

FBPFAV2001 - Apply hydro-cooling processes to fresh produce

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Identify hydro-cooling requirements

  1. Identify key steps in the hydro-cooling process including impact of timing and temperature
  2. Identify produce for hydro-cooling and confirm specific cooling and transfer requirements
  3. Check and adjust equipment performance to meet work requirements
  4. Conduct pre-start checks and prepare personal protective equipment
  5. Place goods in storage areas to meet storage temperature, stores handling and stock rotation requirements
  6. Record stores information in required format

Conduct hydro-cooling

  1. Check storage facility for readiness and allocation of space for produce
  2. Transfer produce in a manner that is safe and maintains produce quality
  3. Set operating parameters for hydro-cooling equipment to meet safety and cooling requirements
  4. Apply hydro-cooling to produce according to cooling requirements
  5. Transfer produce to storage according to workplace procedures
  6. Record process information in required format
  7. Maintain the work area according to workplace standards, food safety and work health and safety requirements
